Finland will celebrate cultural creators and deeds at the Culture Gala in Tampere in 2021 and 2022. The entertainment and art festival, which will be televised live on Yle’s TV1 channel, will culminate in the announcement of the winner of the Cultural Deed of the Year award.
The 2021 event will be held on November 25 at the premises of Mediapolis for a limited number of 300 invited guests. A year later, a multi-audience is sought, as the Uros Live arena, which will be completed in Tampere, will attract culture and art lovers to a new stage.
Hosting the cultural gala is a great honor and a guide for us when we aim to become the European Capital of Culture 2026 together with Pirkanmaa, emphasizes Perttu Pesä, the event director of the City of Tampere and the project manager of the Capital of Culture project.
In addition to Tampere, Veikkaus, the main co-operation company, Yle, the newly established cultural and art lobbyist KULTA ry and Mikko Vanni as the initiator of the whole project through his company Life Style Invest act as the main co-operation company.
The annual gala sets out to create something new, drawing on current phenomena and visions for the future.
The range of entertainment and art performances that combine different forms of culture is complemented by the rewards of recent achievements and previous feats of Finnish culture. Experts in Finnish culture from various fields of society, from the background figures of cultural institutions to influencers of the business world and society, participate in the background of various accolades and in the nominations and selections of candidates.
