The most important games of Ice Hockey World Championships will be played in Tampere

The 2022 Ice Hockey World Championships are played in Finland, and the most important games in Tampere. All of Finland’s seven preliminary series games, semi-finals and finals will be played at Tampere’s new Deck Areena (Uros Live).

The final game of the World Hockey Championships is played May 29, 2022.

The mayor of Tampere, Lauri Lyly, was very enthusiastic about the event at the press conference: “Yes, we are really excited. We have really good facilities here for the top puck. There is accommodation, there are parking spaces, there is a brand new hall.”

Lyly also repeated what all Finns know: “Tampere is the home of top hockey”.

The competition will be played on 13.5. – 29.5.2022 in Tampere and Helsinki. The second starting block and half of the quarterfinals will be played in Helsinki. Sales of VIP tickets began on January 21st. Day ticket sales will begin in early fall, when the match schedule is finalized.

The slogan of the competition is “Making Miracles”. The organizers want to use the logo to bring out the Finnish story through the wonders of hockey. According to the organizers, hockey has offered small and big miracles to spectators.

The values ​​of the Games are community, responsibility and having fun. The patron of the Games is President Sauli Niinistö.

The Games are also a significant event for Tampere’s tourism. A total of half a million guests are expected to attend the competition. An estimated total 1.5 billion viewers will watch the games on television.

More than a thousand volunteers are currently being sought for the Games.

The Ice Hockey World Championships were in Tampere 1965, so there is experience. However, the scale of the Games has multiplied since those years.
