Perttu Pesä, the new project manager of the Tampere and Pirkanmaa Capital of Culture search, explains in an interview with YLE how to win the competition:
“To use sport terms, we have to play our own game. We need to find our own strengths that Europe is willing to accept.”
He believes in good success: “Yes, this team, where Tampere and the surrounding municipalities are playing together, this is pretty strong. After all, this is a beauty contest for what is important for Europe.”
Perttu Pesä is looking for a winning recipe. For example he looks for how sports events are organized here:
“Tampere is ranked 97th on the list of cities hosting world sports competitions. If we look at the size of the city, we are standing in the queue somewhere about three thousand. If we are among the top 100, then something has been done right there and there is something that can be used”, Pesä says.
